Sons of Sanguinius, rejoice!

There was a tournament this past Saturday, and I took my trusted 1st Volistad Scratch Regiment to the battlefield once more. I meant to give them a much needed rest as I work on my Blood Angels, but as it is, I had to send them back to the front.

The tournament went ok. Two rounds. The first round had me facing the same Necron player I fought this past week. Again, I managed to beat him, but it was a hell of a close call. He took two Monoliths which proceeded to wreak havoc on my lines, but I tried to ignore them and roll with the punches, and just take down his Warriors and Destroyers. On the very last turn, I was so badly mauled that it was up to my three Chimeras to do the brunt of the shooting, and bring down the last few Warriors. That forced the Necron player to phase out, and victory, a very hard, painful victory, was mine.

The second round had me fighting the Tau. I hadn't met the Tau in the battlefield since the very year they were released back in 3rd edition. Since I knew I had no chance to outshoot the Tau, even with my numerical advantage, I played for the objectives. I managed to take 3 of the 5 objectives, but by that stage my force was seriously depleted, while the Tau had only taken a few casualties. In the last turn, the Tau player went agressively for the objectives, and his superior firepower managed to dislodge me of all three. At the final whistle, he held one objective, and I held none. So, a defeat.

I guess I had one coming eventualy. My winning streak was beggining to feel weird.

Also, good news! Codex Blood Angels is coming out in April!

At last! I mean, Codex Angels of Death was awesome, but we shared it with the Dark Angels, and it was all the way back in 2nd edition. By 3rd edition, we had a puny, disgusting 20-page panflet pretending to be a codex, something that pissed me off severely at the time. Then, in 4th edition, we had a bloody PDF! It was beggining to look like GW had given up on the Sons of Sanguinius and instead decided to focus on Smurf Marines and Emo Marines. The release of the Space Wolves codex gave me hope, and now it's finally come to pass.

About damn time!

  1. A two-game tournament? Doesn't seem like enough to really get a sense of the field. Still, that's two games more than I managed to get this weekend.

Even though I don't play them, I am glad to see Blood Angels get a new Codex. Some of the things I've been hearing... Dreadnought Squadrons? Eeep and full of awesome.
